This was the stupidest idea, but there were a few problems with this old one. He doesn't have a very good idea of the world, outside of a few things here and there, so he's learning. Another? He was really still hungry, and his belly tended to lead him into stupid things.

Like stalking someone who smelled like sweet and sugar and--the smell was stronger.

So as he turned to peek again, she was leaning right there, waiting. Waving at him. His golden eyes went wide, staring at her for a moment. And something behind him swept at the boxes of cereal at the lower shelf. His tail had popped out into existence when she surprised him. He grabbed at it, morphing it back in as he scrambled backwards.

[I, ah, no speak... is that English?] He rambled in Japanese, understanding it well enough, and he might even speak it but he was startled.

"I, uh, S-sorry." He said in bad english, giving her a deep bow and then... turning to run. Yep. That was well. That was SMOOTH. Since when was he a mess around people? He could manage it with anyone else. She just smelled so delicious that he panicked.

He's going to go mentally beat himself up now, if he can.
